I found a forum post that showed me how to see what user owned any particular process, and for squeezeserver the user was identified as squeeze+. Documentation on LMS for Linux is scant and fragmented, but I think I saw somewhere that when it installs it creates a new user. I've used chown to change the drive's ownership to daniel, and I've used chmod to change the permissions to 777, in an attempt to get LMS to access my files, but no luck. On that drive are directories named Tracks and Playlists, so the two paths I'm giving LMS are: My music and playlist files are on a separate physical drive from the Linux sda, and its volume label is Music. I'm hoping there's a Squeezebox guru on this forum who can help me. But no error message! I'm guessing that LMS can't access my music &/or playlist files. But when I tell it (in Firefox) where my music tracks and playlists are, after entering the playlists path and clicking, the path entry field turns momentarily red, but the page doesn't progress to the next setup page. I run a number of Squeezebox 3s around the house, so have succeeded in installing a Linux version of Logitech Media Server (LMS), and started the service (with a little trouble). I think it's the permissions system that's killing me! As a user for 32-years of CP/M, MS-DOS and Windows, I'm really struggling with Linux. Go into LMS > SETTINGS > Advanced Tab, then click dropdown menu for "networking" and change the 9000 to 9001, for example. Maybe ASSET uses 9000? If so, you can change LMS to use a different port than 9000. The other issue is ports used by LMS vs ASSET. You do NOT want to be using LMS's DLNA server at the same time you're ASSET I suspect. On this page, make sure you "uncheck" the UpNp/DLNA Media" plugin (then hit apply).

Go into the WebGUI of LMS (you can reach this by right clicking on the LMS icon in your windows tray and selecting WEB CONTROL, or opening the Control Panel on right clicking the LMS tray icon, then ADVANCED SETTINGS under the advanced tab), in the lower right corner select SETTINGS, then select the PLUGINS tab. LMS is just a program running on the computer (I use to serve music to my many Squeezebox players). Thanks in advance.They should be able to coexist.

I installed Logitech Media Server on the XP box and now Asset is not showing up on either Roku even though the Asset software is still running.Īny suggestions on what I can do? I was unaware that the Squeezebox Radio can use only Logitech Media Server (LMS) software to see the FLAC files stored on the Windows XP box in the basement. I recently bought a Logitech Squeezebox Radio for my wife to use in the kitchen. The server is an old Windows XP box with a single Pentium 4 CPU and 1.5 GB of RAM. Neither Roku cannot natively play FLAC so Asset transcodes them to WAV on the server side. I am currently using dBPoweramp's Asset to serve FLAC files to the two Rokus. I currently have two Roku Soundbridges (M2000 and M1000) that still work and I plan on using them until they die. Can they coexist together on a Windows XP box?
